Food Projects

We would like to see a community where everyone can afford to eat good, healthy and sustainable food.

Food and Cooking Classes and Courses

We hold various cooking events, workshops and courses that focus on different themes like local and seasonal food, reducing food waste or improving cooking skills. These include:

  • Smart Cooking – making the most of meals and your budget  – learn basic food preparation and cooking skills, get healthy recipes that are simple and low cost to make at home and find out how to improve your household budgeting skills and energy efficiency. We run courses for the public and also deliver to groups and organisations.
  • Food Works! – food and horticulture training opportunities giving valuable skills and experience for moving into education, volunteering or employment.
  • Local and Seasonal Food Workshops – locally sourced, seasonal food is often more environmentally friendly, fresher and healthier than food from far away places. In the past we have run workshops to inspire people to cook and eat with local and seasonal food.
  • Food Waste Workshops – we run food waste workshops as part of our Too good to waste project to give people tips on how to reduce food waste and save money.

Fife Food for Fife Folk

We want to bring more good, local and ethical food to Fife tables. Order a bespoke grocery box every fortnight, filled with your choice of locally-grown, seasonal fruit, veg, herbs, ethically-sourced wholefoods and other essential groceries through our Eco Shop with our Fife Food for Fife Folk project.

A Community Food Hub for Kirkcaldy

We’re developing plans for a Community Food Hub in Kirkcaldy, which will be a place for people to come together to grow, cook, eat and learn. The Food Hub project will be delivered across 2 sites, with a Community Kitchen in Kirkcaldy town centre and a Horticultural Training Centre at Ravenscraig Walled Garden. Find out more on our Community Food Hub page.
