Get Involved with our Mapping Project
This autumn we’re starting an exciting new project to map Kirkcaldy’s potential – and we want your help to do it.
We want to map 3 things:
1. Reuse and Repair services: Where can I take my Hoover to be fixed? Where can I buy a good quality second hand bike? How can I make-sure my old telly gets re-used and not thrown in the tip? These are all questions we hope to answer by coming up with a list of reuse and repair services in the town.
2. Potential Solar Energy Sites: Wouldn’t it be great to harness the power of the sun, right here in the town? We think so and are looking for potential sites for a community solar energy project.
3. Potential Community Growing Spaces: We want more people in Kirkcaldy to have access to a community growing space, so want to identify spots all over town that have potential for this.
Information collected about these things will help us plan for future projects that will help make Kirkcaldy even greener.
We need a team of volunteers to tramp the streets recording this information. We’ll be holding an information and training evening on Monday 25th November from 6pm – 7.30pm in our Advice Centre for anyone who’s interested.
If you’re interested have a look a the Volunteer Role Description and get in touch via volunteer@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk or on 01592 858458, or pop into the Advice Centre.
