Easter is a time to celebrate new beginnings. Although it is a religious feast in the Christian calendar, for many, it also celebrates the coming of Spring.
In this workshop, We’ll show you how to perfect some classic Easter bakes, so by the end you can celebrate the new skills you’ve developed and recipes you’ve learned.
We will be making:
- Simnel Cake: An impressive centrepiece for your Easter table. A moist rich fruit cake baked with a layer of marzipan in the middle and decorated with balls of marzipan or spring flowers.
- Hot Cross Buns: – there is nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked hot cross buns in the house at Easter time. We will teach you an easy recipe to make these seasonal treats. We will also give you some ideas as to what to do with any leftover buns.
- Lemon curd: a wonderful Springtime condiment to add to toast, hot cross buns or even a Spring Pavlova. This only requires a few ingredients, is made easily and quickly, and tastes so much better than the shop-bought version.
All recipes are easily adaptable for vegetarian and vegan diets.
Our workshops are fun and informal, our tutors will support you to prepare the recipes. We’ll chat about the origins of traditional Easter bakes. There will also be time to discuss, taste and compare notes. You’ll leave inspired and ready to continue baking at home. We’ll also provide a light lunch and snacks.
This is a hands-on cooking class. All dishes made can be taken away and enjoyed at home.
Some cooking skills are required to enjoy this workshop i.e. basic knife skills. Please bring some containers to take home your food. If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, please let us know when you are booking.
