We’re starting a new monthly blog showcasing the amazing work that our advisors do every month.

In January, our advisors:

• Visited 161 homes (a total of 1,363 homes since April 2019)
• Gave advice to 31 people at talks and events (1,188 since April 2019)
• Supported 37 people with Utility debt advice (355 since April 2019)
• Installed energy-efficient measures in 85 households (588 since April 2019)

Here’s how our energy advisors supported Andrew:

Andrew has recently moved house. His home an old inefficient gas boiler and water tank, and he found the controls very difficult to use. He had served in the Royal Air Force and had a War Disablement Pension.

We visited Andrew in his home. Due to his War Disablement Pension we referred him to Home Energy Scotland as we thought he might be eligible for a new heating system. Andrew qualified for the Warmer Homes Scotland Scheme and had a new efficient gas central heating system, including combi-boiler, pipework, radiators and heating controls installed in his home.

We showed Andrew how to use the heating controls efficiently to keep his home warm and comfortable without spending too much on his bills. We also helped him understand his energy bills and tariff so he knew what he was spending and why.

Andrew was delighted with his new heating system – his home is much warmer, and he finds it much easier to use and control his heating system, saving him money.
