True Cost Film Showing
Wednesday 22nd February, 6.30pm – 8.30pm, Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy.
“This is a story about clothing. It’s about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the industry is having on our world.”
Fashion is the second most polluting industry in the world, second only to oil. We now consume 500% more clothing than we did two decades ago. A fast fashion item produces 400 times more carbon emissions than an item we wear for over a year. And, according to WRAP, in the UK alone, we have £30 billion worth of clothes hanging unworn in our wardrobe.
The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. This Wizard of Oz journey into the heart of the fashion industry pulls back the curtain on the untold true cost of our clothing, and challenges us to consider how we consume.
