‘Community, People and our Planet’
Saturday 21st February 10am to 2.15pm, at the Old Kirk, Kirk Wynd, Kirkcaldy
Greener Kirkcaldy would like to invite you to our Annual Gathering and Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday 21st February 2015. Come along, get inspired, get involved, and be informed!
Our Annual Gathering will run from 10.00 (tea and coffee from 9.30am) until 12.45pm followed by lunch. The Gathering will celebrate our success and impact over the past year and we will tell you about new and exciting work we will be starting in 2015. We will also have updates on progress being made towards new projects including the Community Food Hub and our solar energy project.
With a lot of discussion locally about the future energy landscape and how this might affect us on our land and in our local waters, we have invited Prof. Stuart Haszeldine from The School of GeoSciences, University of Edinburgh, to speak at our event. He has agreed to speak on the topic of ‘Unconventional Gas – A rough Guide to fracking and underground coal gasification’, with the aim of informing our event about these methods and their relevance to Fife and Scotland.
Award winning journalist, commentator and broadcaster Lesley Riddoch will focus on the local dimensions of community empowerment, what this means in practice and how to get beyond words.
The AGM is the formal part of the meeting and will take place after a locally sourced lunch from 1.45pm to 2.15pm. It will include an election of the Greener Kirkcaldy Management Committee. (Only Greener Kirkcaldy members can vote at the AGM, but you can join on the day.)
Throughout the event, we will be exhibiting lots of information about our work and how you could get involved, including volunteering opportunities and membership of Greener Kirkcaldy. We will also be inviting other local partners to exhibit too.
This event is free but ticketed. Please book your ticket by visiting https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/people-community-and-our-planet-tickets-15033603914
We look forward to seeing you on 21st February!
