Fruit Tree Pruning and Care
Pruning your apple and pear trees in winter can encourage more growth and create a more productive fruit tree. Without cutting back, trees can become congested and produce less fruit.
Between November and March the trees are dormant and the lack of leaves means you can better see the structure and shape of your tree. You will learn how to maintain established trees, remove dead and diseased wood and reduce crowded growth increasing the vigour of your tree in spring.
The workshop will start with some fruit tree basic knowledge then we will move on to the orchard for some practical skills.
Andrew Lear will be our mentor for the morning sharing his many years of fruit tree expertise.
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and be prepared to be outside in all weathers! No experience necessary, suitable for beginners.
The workshop will take place at Ravenscraig Walled Garden, directions will be on the confirmation email.
