There are increasing numbers of people with allergies and intolerances so this course provides up-to-date information for all food handlers. The objectives of the training are:

  • To understand the needs of people with allergies, intolerances and coeliac disease and the challenges of choosing food suitable for them
  • To know which foods are most likely to cause reactions and which recipes require them
  • To understand the legal obligations of supplying food to people with allergies and intolerances
  • To have some insight into the needs of particular groups, babies, young children, teenagers and the elderly and appreciate who is at greatest risk
  • To know how to choose, prepare and serve suitable food for somebody with a food allergy or intolerance

Cost: £40 (£35 community / third sector organisation)

Our booking form includes a series of optional anonymous questions. These help us learn more about the people we reach through our events. Any information you choose to share about your background is managed separately to information that you give us to process your booking (for example, your name).

Accessibility Information

An understanding of English is required to complete the course. Support can be provided on request. Some resources and test papers can be provided on other languages, please let us know when you are booking the course.

This training is scheduled to use our meeting room upstairs for training. There is no stair lift available. Please indicate if this would be an issue for you when you book onto the course and we can schedule the training to take place in an accessible place.

There are accessible parking bays available outside 8 East Fergus Place. There is a ramp into the building and level access throughout the ground floor. There is also an accessible toilet. Learn more about how to get to us and the accessibility of the building.
