Fix-it Friday – Introduction to Gear Set-up

In this free workshop, Lang Toun Cycles’ expert mechanics will discuss the principles of how external bicycle gear systems work, show you how to check things are straight and in line and guide you through replacing a cable and resetting your gears. This class is not suitable for internal hub gear systems. If you are in doubt about what systems you have please get in touch before signing up.

• Check derailleurs are fitted and aligned correctly
• Remove and refit a new rear gear cable (one will be supplied free of charge to all participants)
• Set limit screws on derailleurs
• Adjust cable tension and index gear shifting accurately

Ideally you should bring along your own, clean bike if you like, or use one of our provided bikes. We will provide the required tools, protective equipment and work stands.
