Doors Open Day this weekend
There are Doors Open Days happening all over Scotland this month https://www.facebook.com/
There’s loads of great buildings open – including Dysart Town Hall and the 16th century Tolbooth in the village. Other highlights could be visiting The Ecology Centre’s new building at Kinghorn Loch; Little Raith Wind Farm or Carrs Flour Mill down at Kirkcaldy Harbour. Booking maybe required for some of these buildings so please check the programme for more information.
We’re also celebrating Doors Open Day at Ravenscraig Walled Garden. It’s open from 11 am to 4 pm. Come along and experience all the enthusiasm for growing your own produce within the walls of the old Dysart House kitchen garden. With over 50 individual and community plots, the community orchard, beehives and more it’s a riot for the senses. Bees are a key part of the garden’s ecology – there will be short talks on bees and bee keeping through the day.
Greener Kirkacldy will be showing visitors around the community orchard and our training allotment, and talk to anyone interested in getting involved with Greener Kirkcaldy. Join us for a cup of tea and a scone with apple jelly made from this year’s harvest. We’ll also have some winter vegetable seedlings available too.
Ravenscraig Walled Garden can be accessed through the green gates near the junction of Dysart Road and West Quality Street.
