Update on our Board of Trustees

As 2026 gets underway, I’d like to take a moment to share an update on our Board and recognise the people who play such an important role in guiding Greener Kirkcaldy’s work.
Following the re-election of trustees at our AGM in November 2025, and the election of office bearers in December, I’m pleased to share our office holders for 2026.
Office holders for 2026
We’re delighted that Matthew Lawson returns as Chair for a second year. He brings experience in sustainability, working with young people and strategic leadership. Matthew made a huge impact in his first year, strengthening our organisational governance and bringing clarity and focus to the Board’s work. We’re excited to build on that momentum in 2026.
We’re also incredibly fortunate to have Ian Stirton continuing as Treasurer for an astonishing 13th year. Ian offers deep financial expertise and long-standing knowledge of Greener Kirkcaldy, providing invaluable continuity and stability for the organisation.
This year, Hayley Williamson steps up as Vice Chair, taking over from Pat Crosbie. Hayley brings experience in sustainability and public sector leadership and we’re delighted to welcome her into this role as we continue to grow and develop. I’d like to thank Pat for her ten years of service on the Board, including her time as Vice Chair. Pat remains on the Board and continues to generously share her experience and expertise, which we greatly value.
Amy Guy returns for her second year as Staff Liaison Officer, bringing expertise in HR and wellbeing and playing a vital role in maintaining a supportive link between staff and trustees.
Thanks and farewells
I’d also like to thank Carol Kennedy, who stepped down from the Board after seven years of dedicated service. Carol has been a trustee since 2018 and has played a key role in the Equalities Working Group, sharing her expertise and helping to strengthen our approach in this important area. She has also been a valued supporter of trustee recruitment and member events, including our Annual Gathering. We’re very grateful for everything Carol has contributed to Greener Kirkcaldy.
I’d also like to thank George McDermid, who has stepped down from the Board after just over two years as a trustee, and who continues to be an appreciated volunteer with Greener Kirkcaldy. George brought valuable knowledge and experience around cycling policy, community gardens and IT. His long-standing involvement as a Greener Kirkcaldy volunteer also provided helpful and grounded perspective at Board level. We’re very
grateful to George for his continued commitment to Greener Kirkcaldy and for everything he has contributed to the organisation.
I’d like to thank the whole Board for their passion, commitment and support over the past year. The time, care and expertise our trustees give makes a real difference to the strength and impact of our organisation. I’m deeply grateful for their continued support and dedication as we move into 2026.
