Recycle old IT equipment, batteries and ink cartridges
Do you have a drawer full of old smartphones? Are old laptops or tablets gathering dust at home? Do you know where to take old batteries? Or are you wondering where to dispose of ink cartridges? We can help!
IT Equipment
The Edinburgh Remakery refurbish old IT equipment so that it doesn’t end up in landfill.
We act as a collection point for the Remakery. We can accept donations of laptops, desktops, tablets, iPads, smart phones, cables, chargers, monitors, routers, smart watches, headphones, speakers. We can also take ‘peripherals’, such as keyboards, webcams, and mice.
Bring your old IT equipment to 8 East Fergus Place during opening hours and we’ll send items across to the Remakery for them to recycle.
Laptops, smartphones or tablets can be working or broken. If working, you should restore tablets and smartphones to factory settings to protect your privacy.

Ink cartridges
Your old or unwanted ink cartridges could be help us do more work in our community! We can send cartridges away to be used again through our partnership with Recycle4Charity. This is a small but easy way to support a circular economy, where items are reused as much as possible instead of being sent to landfill. Each cartridge you donate could also be worth between 20p and £1. Please note that we can’t accept any laser cartridges or toner.
Batteries
If you have any old household batteries we can help you recycle them. We work with Valpak to provide a free battery recycling box in the welcome area at 8 East Fergus Place.
