Equality Pathfinder programme
Greener Kirkcaldy is part of Equalities Pathfinder programme – a non-competitive local recognition scheme run by Fife Centre for Equalities (FCE). In January 2022, we completed the bronze level. We are now working on our silver level award.
As part of the programme organisations take a ‘whole team’ approach to training and development. This approach helps demonstrate organisational commitment to equality and diversity. It helps foster a learning culture based on the universal principles and the framework underpinning the Equality Act 2010.
At the bronze level, we took part in workshops to experience the diversity of views within our team. FCE gradually introduced diverse viewpoints for long-term engagement with ‘hard to reach / easy to ignore’ communities in Fife. We have established a cross-team Equalities Action Group, which has drafted an equalities inventory for the organisation. The inventory outlines what barriers people with protected characteristics have when it comes to being part of Greener Kirkcaldy. We are now looking at drafting our first equalities action plan.
