Greener Kirkcaldy appoints new Community Chef
Greener Kirkcaldy is delighted to welcome Samantha Wells as our new Community Chef.
Samantha has years of experience as a private chef, catering for a wide range of parties and other events. She brings a wealth of culinary skills and knowledge of both local and world cuisine to Greener Kirkcaldy’s Community Food Team.
Samantha is already a familiar face at Greener Kirkcaldy. She has been running cooking workshops and other activities at the Lang Spoon Community Kitchen for more than a year.
Samantha Wells, Community Chef, Greener Kirkcaldy said: “The programme of workshops and events at the Lang Spoon Community Kitchen is incredibly varied, but ultimately it’s all about bringing people together and getting more folk involved in making tasty food. I want to encourage everyone in Kirkcaldy to become part of what we are doing, by coming along to our community meals, signing up for a workshop or even by volunteering.
“I love Greener Kirkcaldy’s ethos of making food more sustainable. I hate wasting anything and I enjoy finding creative ways to get as much as possible out of ingredients. I’m also looking forward to making more of the fabulous seasonal ingredients that are grown in Greener Kirkcaldy’s gardens in East Fergus Place and Ravenscraig Walled Garden.”
Geraldine O’Riordan, Project Manager – Community Food Team, Greener Kirkcaldy said: “Samantha is incredibly enthusiastic about food and her passion for cooking is infectious. She has built great relationships with our staff and volunteers since she starting working with Greener Kirkcaldy last year, and we’re delighted to welcome her as our new Community Chef.”
Greener Kirkcaldy’s Lang Spoon Community Kitchen was launched in 2019 as a place to grow, eat, cook and learn. It offers courses and workshops on a large range of cuisines and cooking skills such as bread making, baking, and more. The kitchen also offers basic cooking classes, training, volunteer and work experience opportunities, community meals and engagement with our community on healthy, sustainable food.
