Winter Pruning – Apple and Pear Trees
For apple and pear trees winter pruning encourages vigorous growth so if you would like more fruit then pruning will encourage new shoots and more flowers. Without cutting back they can become straggly and unproductive.
Between November and March the trees are dormant and the lack of leaves means you can better see the structure and shape of your tree. You will learn how to maintain the shape of established trees, remove dead and diseased wood and reduce crowded growth increasing the vigour of your tree in spring.
Please wear suitable gardening clothing and be prepared to be outside in all weathers! No experience necessary.
The workshop will take place at Ravenscraig Walled Garden. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and walking footwear.
There is disabled parking on site and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
