Starting from the basics, develop your cycling skills to more confidently take on rougher off-road routes on your mountain or gravel bike.
This event is part of the Kirkcaldy Cycling Festival and is free thanks to funding from Smarter Choices Smarter Places. Attendees at the event will have the opportunity to enter the Kirkcaldy Cycling Festival prize draw.
The 3-hour session will cover three main core principles of better off-road riding:
Ready position and dynamic movement – riding out of the saddle and moving your weight smooths the trail and allow you to ride easier over rough ground
Cornering – steering and cornering off-road come with their own challenges – looser, softer surfaces require a bit more thought and planning. We will cover essential approaches to allow you to corner with confidence
Front wheel lifts – the ability to unweight and even lift your front wheel over trail features and obstacles not only look cool but makes your riding smoother and less fatiguing overall.
Lang Toun Cycles’ Project Manager David Glover is leading these events. David is an experienced mountainbiker, racer and multi-day bikepacker. He has a Mountain Bike Leader qualification and has a UKCC Level 2 MTB (United Kingdom Coaching Certificate Level 2 Mountain Bike).
You will be in safe and capable hands and have the opportunity to increase your confidence riding off-road.

Please note that this event is weather-dependent.
Please bring sufficient fluid and snacks to keep you going for up to 3 hours of riding
