Introduction to Fermentation – kimchi and seasonal garden veg

In the setting of our community training garden at Ravenscraig Walled Garden, our workshop will introduce you to making nourishing and seasonal ferments that are great for your gut.
We’ll explore how fermentation works with a mix of discussion and practical hands-on activities.
You’ll learn how to introduce fermented foods to your diet in easy and accessible ways.
We’ll taste fermented foods and discuss the benefits for our health and wellbeing, this will include seasonal kraut and kimchi.
You’ll make kimchi and fermented, seasonal vegetables freshly harvested from our garden at Ravenscraig to take away, along with recipes and suggestions so that you can experiment at home.
This session is perfect for beginners. Some chopping/knife work will be required. Please bring along some clean empty jars and something to take notes with.
