Whether you like baking or have never baked before this workshop is for you. We’ll show you how to make some classic cakes to impress, and talk about the principles behind what makes bakes rise and taste delicious every time. We’ll also introduce some basic techniques that can be used to create a range of delicious treats. There will be time to discuss, taste and compare notes too.
In this extended, 4-hour workshop you will be making from scratch:
A Victoria Sponge cake – A light and fluffy sponge cake with buttercream and jam. A delicious addition for any cake table that can also be adapted for celebrations and special occasions.
A Lemon Drizzle cake – A tasty teatime or any time treat with a zesty lemon flavour and icing.
Light and fluffy scones – With its origins in Scotland, scones are an essential part for a traditional cream tea. They can be made sweet or savoury.
In our fun and informative workshop, we hope you will leave inspired to adapt and experiment with our recipes at home to make them your own.
The course is hands-on and suitable for beginners and people with some experience interested in trying out something new. Please bring 2 large boxes and a bag to take home your creations.
This workshop will be led by Jackie Vural, an enthusiastic cook of many cuisines with a passion for breadmaking. Jackie has worked with Greener Kirkcaldy for a long time and loves sharing her skills.
If you have any dietary requirements please let us know when booking. We’ll be using wheat flour so this workshop is not suitable for anyone with a gluten allergy. We are planning a gluten-free baking workshop for a later date.
