Korean cuisine bursts with colour, flavour, and tradition – from steaming bowls of rice to crisp, refreshing pickles and the iconic tang of kimchi. At our Taste of Korea workshop, we’ll dive into this exciting food culture and cook a selection of dishes that showcase the bold, bright flavours Korean cooking is loved for.

You’ll prepare a trio of classic recipes that are simple, satisfying, and full of character:

  • Bibimbap – a beautifully arranged rice bowl topped with colourful vegetables, tofu, and an optional egg, all brought together with a rich chilli‑sesame sauce.
  • Pajeon – a crisp, savoury spring‑onion pancake served with a punchy soy dipping sauce.
  • Oi Muchim – a spicy, seasoned cucumber salad that’s bright, crunchy, and incredibly moreish.

We’ll taste a selection of Korean favourites:

  • Classic Korean pickles and kimchi – the essential side dishes that bring contrast and balance to every meal.

All recipes are fully vegetarian, and the workshop is relaxed, hands‑on, and designed for all skill levels. Your tutor will guide you through each dish, share stories about the Korean way of eating, and introduce you to the world of homemade kimchi – its flavours, its history, and why it’s at the heart of Korean cooking.

The Lang Spoon Community Kitchen

The Lang Spoon Community Kitchen is part of Greener Kirkcaldy’s community building. We’re based in the heart of Kirkcaldy, close to the High Street and the train and bus station. Find out how to get here.

Our purpose built training kitchen has eight workstations, to replicate the ease and comfort of cooking at home.

Our cookery school is complemented by a productive and climate-friendly garden, where we run volunteer training sessions and grow seasonal herbs, fruit and vegetables to use in our classes and events. We also have a larger community training garden and orchard in Dysart.

We host a wide range of events, courses and workshops on all aspects of food and drink. Both our Community Training Kitchen and Production Kitchen are available for hire too.
