Join us for our Taste of Sicily workshop, where we’ll bring the Sicilian ‘fresh and local’ philosophy to life using the best of seasonal produce. We’ll show you how to adapt classic island recipes to work perfectly with the ingredients available locally.

Sicilian cuisine is a vibrant fusion of Mediterranean flavours rooted in Italian and North African heritage and enriched by a long history of Spanish, Arab and Greek influences. The island enjoys a year-round growing season using fresh, local ingredients to create delicious dishes.

In this workshop we’ll make –

Pasta alla Norma – a classic rich aubergine, tomato and basil sauce served with rigatoni

Zucchine alla Scapece – slices of golden fried courgette marinated in a fresh herby dressing

Paste di mandorla – Sicilian almond cookies, delicious served with whipped ricotta and fresh berries

We’ll also demonstrate and taste pesto alla Trapanese made with the tomatoes and almonds that are local to Sicily.

Our workshops are fun and informal, our tutor will support you to prepare the recipes.

All recipes are suitable for vegetarians. Please let us know about any dietary requirements when booking. Wheat and dairy will be used in the workshop.

The Lang Spoon Community Kitchen

The Lang Spoon Community Kitchen is part of Greener Kirkcaldy’s community building. We’re based in the heart of Kirkcaldy, close to the High Street and the train and bus station. Find out how to get here.

Our purpose built training kitchen has eight workstations, to replicate the ease and comfort of cooking at home.

Our cookery school is complemented by a productive and climate-friendly garden, where we run volunteer training sessions and grow seasonal herbs, fruit and vegetables to use in our classes and events. We also have a larger community training garden and orchard in Dysart.

We host a wide range of events, courses and workshops on all aspects of food and drink. Both our Community Training Kitchen and Production Kitchen are available for hire too.
