Quick stop – basic brake maintenance
Bringing your bike to a controlled stop is crucial for safe and confident cycling.
We will talk you through the main braking components and types of brakes used on current bicycles so you understand how they all work.
After this workshop, you will be able to check for worn out brake parts and cables and know how to replace them yourself or when is best to take them to a bike service shop. You will get the opportunity to replace an inner cable on a bike and how to adjust and clean braking components to allow you to keep your brakes feeling good and stopping you safely.
This course is run by qualified mechanical staff at Lang Toun Cycles.
No mechanical experience is needed.
Tea, coffee and water will be provided
Ideally, you should bring along your own bike or, if you like you can use one of our provided bikes. We will provide the required tools, protective equipment and work stands.
You will have the opportunity to purchase tools.
Please wear clothing you do not mind getting dirty as you will be dealing with grease and grime. Aprons and gloves will also be provided.
