Family gardening workshop – Get kids growing!

Growing your own plants from seed is a great way to teach children about where their food comes from and to get them interested in growing, eating and cooking with fruit, veg and other plants.

Our family-friendly workshop will introduce children to growing plants in the garden or on a windowsill.

We will chat about what plants need to grow, what they look like when they start growing and how to look after them.

We’ll taste some home-grown salad and herbs to encourage everyone to get started and have a look at some of the growing spaces in our community garden at Ravenscraig.

You will also get to decorate your plant pots and then sow some seeds to take home to grow.

This workshop will take place at Greener Kirkcaldy’s community garden and orchard based within Ravenscraig Walled Garden.

We will be outdoors so please wear suitable outdoor clothing for the weather.

This activity is best suited for children ages 4-8 accompanied by parents/carers.

All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Family ticket (1 adult + 2 children) – £20

*This event is for families so adults can not book a ticket without also buying a child or family ticket. Any single adult bookings will be cancelled.

Accessibility

There are disabled parking spaces and additional unmarked parking on site. Please note the terrain is mostly flat and the paths are gravel. The venue is outdoors except for the working cabin.
