Climate Friendly Gardens – Summer fruit tree pruning workshop

Come along to learn how and why we prune fruit trees in summer. This is important care for trees including plums and apricots. Specially trained forms of apples and pears including espalier and stepovers are pruned in summer too.
The workshop includes some theory, a look at which tools to use, and hands-on practice in our community orchard at Ravenscraig Walled Garden.
We encourage you to bring along photographs of any fruit trees you might have in your garden or community growing space that you would like to ask questions about.
This workshop is led by our own community gardener Kit Cubitt. Kit has many years’ experience working with different types of fruit trees in orchards and community gardens.
The session includes a break for a hot drink, biscuits and discussion.
