Bikepacking in Scotland: Discovering the past – enjoying the present (Sold Out)
We welcome Markus Stitz, founder of Bikepacking Scotland, to this online event to celebrate the joys of exploring Scotland on two wheels. We hope that hearing about his adventures will inspire you to dig out your tent, tune-up your bike and commit to a bikepacking adventure this summer, rather than jumping on a plane.
Discovering the past – enjoying the present
More than just turning the pedals, bikepacking offers a sustainable opportunity to discover the past by enjoying the present. Bikepacking Scotland founder and round the world singlespeed cyclist Markus Stitz talks about how the history of countries has inspired him to develop new bikepacking routes in Highland Perthshire, Argyll and most recently, the Cateran Ecomuseum.
You will also have the opportunity to ask Markus about his adventures and get some top tips on bikepacking.
Bio: Markus Stitz
Since becoming the first person to circumnavigate the world on one gear with bikepacking bags in 2016, Markus has moved gradually into filmmaking. After writing and directing a number of films about his own Bikepacking Scotland routes, he released ‘No Stone Unturned’ in 2019, produced entirely on an iPhone in the wilderness of Kyrgyzstan. Since then he has worked on a films about bikepacking in Scotland and Germany.
