Afternoon walk – Townhill Woods from Queen Margaret Hospital (Dunfermline)

Join us for a sociable weekend stroll where we will be looking for signs of spring. We’ll walk to the picturesque Townhill Country Park in Dunfermline with its mixed woodland via pavements, tracks and a peaceful, traffic-free walk/cycle path.

We’ll see what local wildlife and plants we encounter. There will also be a chance to learn about the area’s coal mining heritage and visit the memorial garden.

Additional Information

Please note that this walk is weather-dependent. In the event of forecast adverse weather, Greener Kirkcaldy staff will decide whether to go ahead with the walk the day before. We will contact attendees via phone, email and any cancellation will be also posted on Facebook if the walk cannot go ahead.

The 3 mile walk will take up to 2 hours, and be on fairly flat, paved surfaces with some sections of gravel footpath/woodland track.

Please wear appropriate clothes for the weather. Please bring your own water and snacks.

Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs please.

The meeting place is at Queen Margaret Hospital Gate 2, on the corner between Whitefield Road and Access Road 3.

There are bus stops close by, and Dunfermline Queen Margaret Rail Station is a few minutes’ walk away.

Accessibility information

Accessible toilets are available within the hospital main entrance.

Disabled parking is available in Car Parks 1 & 2.

The route is suitable for pushchairs and can be adapted to be suitable for wheelchairs (please let us know in advance).
