Celebrate community ownership at our 2024 Annual Gathering
We’re excited to introduce the theme for the 2024 Greener Kirkcaldy Annual Gathering and AGM: Celebrating community ownership – what next for Kirkcaldy?
What’s Happening?
This year Greener Kirkcaldy celebrates five years of owning our community building at 8 East Fergus Place. There are plenty of opportunities to discuss new ideas for the future of the town.
We also look forward to welcoming our guest speakers Alastair McIntosh and Mark White. And we will take the opportunity to celebrate our amazing volunteers who bring a true sense of community to our building and Greener Kirkcaldy as a whole.
At the gathering, we want to look to the future for Kirkcaldy and inspire new ideas in the community. The event takes place in the Advantage Suite of the Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy.
Speakers
We are excited to welcome two guest speakers to this year’s gathering.
Alastair McIntosh, writer, academic and activist – Alastair is best known for his work on community empowerment, human ecology and poverty of body and soul. His books include Soil and Soul on land reform, Poacher’s Pilgrimage on spirituality and Riders on the Storm on climate change. Raised in the Isle of Lewis, he has lived in Govan for the past twenty years. He is a founding Trustee of the GalGael Trust and an honorary professor in the School of Education at the University of Glasgow.
Mark White from the Leslie Town Hall Project – Mark has been a member of Leslie Amateur Drama Club since moving to Scotland in the early 2000s. He is the main driving force behind the Leslie Town Hall Project in Leslie, near Glenrothes. Mark relishes the challenge of refurbishing the Town Hall and making it a welcoming arts and community centre at the heart of the local community.
Volunteer celebration
At the gathering, we’ll take the opportunity to celebrate and thank our amazing volunteers. Watch out for more information.
