Help Shape Greener Kirkcaldy’s Future

We’re developing a new five-year Strategic Plan for 2027-2032, and we’d love to hear your views.
Earlier this year, we reviewed our current strategy and spoke with more than 150 staff, volunteers, members and trustees. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with strong support for our work on climate action, fuel poverty, food, energy, walking and cycling, volunteering and community development. People told us they value Greener Kirkcaldy as a trusted, welcoming organisation that brings people together while tackling climate change and inequality.
The review also highlighted an opportunity for Greener Kirkcaldy to play a bigger role as a development trust. Development trusts are community-led organisations that create long-term social, environmental and economic benefits for the places they serve. Across Scotland, organisations like Midsteeple Quarter (Dumfries), The Ridge (Dunbar), Fintry Development Trust and Action Porty, are transforming their local area through projects such as community-owned buildings, renewable energy schemes, community hubs, regenerated high streets and social enterprises that generate local income and jobs. Building on our strong foundations, we want to explore how Greener Kirkcaldy can contribute to this movement by supporting community ownership, community wealth building, regeneration and stronger local partnerships, helping create a more resilient and prosperous future for our community.
As Greener Kirkcaldy continues to grow and evolve, we want to ensure our next strategy reflects the ideas, aspirations and priorities of the people and communities we serve. By working together, we can shape a future that builds on our strengths whilst creating new opportunities for local people and communities to thrive.
Over the next few months, we’ll be working with staff, volunteers, members, partners and local people to shape our new strategy. We began this conversation at our Open Day in August and will continue it through a programme of consultation events, workshops and our online survey. We want as many people as possible to have a say in what we do next.
We’re inviting you to help shape our future direction by completing our short online survey.
You don’t need to be a member or volunteer to take part. If you live, work or spend time in Kirkcaldy or have used any of our services, we’d love to hear from you. Your feedback will directly influence the priorities and projects included in our 2027-2032 Strategic Plan.
The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete and is open until 31 October.
We’d particularly like to hear your views on:
- What Greener Kirkcaldy’s priorities should be over the next five years
- The role we should play in Kirkcaldy, across Fife and beyond
- Opportunities for increasing fundraising and enterprise to reduce our reliance on grant-funding and improve our long-term sustainability
- Opportunities for community ownership, community energy and regeneration
- How we can support local people to lead positive change in their communities
This is your opportunity to help shape the future of Greener Kirkcaldy and our communities for the next five years. Whether you’ve been involved with Greener Kirkcaldy for years or are completely new to our organisation, your views are important. Complete the survey and have your say.
