Our Fife Climate Knowhow course demystifies all you need to know about the climate emergency! In one full day, we will look at the science, causes and impacts; and consider how climate change is affecting us in Fife. We will discuss individual and community climate action and work out how to challenge the climate silence.

At the end of our course, you will have an awareness of the carbon impact and cost of everyday activities. You will also be able to reduce your own those of your community or organisation. No previous climate change knowledge is required, this is a shared learning experience!

Our course meets the Carbon Literacy Project Standard. This means that you can gain Carbon Literate accreditation (and a certificate) by completing a short assessment.

The day starts with Climate Fresk, a fun and engaging way to discover the facts and complexities of Climate Change through a team-based card game. Participants use cards to build up a collage that explains climate change in a creative and visual way making it ideal for those who prefer more active and visual learning.

The course covers the following:

  • Climate Science & Justice
  • Causes & Impacts
  • Adaptation & Action
  • Communicating Climate Change

Please let us know of any support you may need to be able to take part in this course.

Who should attend?

This course is for everyone living and working in Fife. Whether you are an individual who wants to increase your knowledge and ability to act, part of a community group or local third sector organisation or business, this course is relevant for you.

If you work for a third sector employability organisation, then understanding the climate emergency will become an increasingly important factor in keeping the workforce employable. Scotland’s employees will need to be appropriately skilled to address both the climate emergency and changes to working practices that Scotland’s businesses and public and third sector employers will need to adopt going forward.

Additional information

Part of the session will include personal climate literacy accreditation, awarded to individuals by the Carbon Literacy Project. This personal accreditation will become increasingly important to workforces in the future, and helps organisations on the way to achieving accreditation as a Carbon Literate Organisation.

The Fife Climate Knowhow training is delivered by the Climate Action Fife project which brings together individuals, communities, local government and businesses to tackle the climate emergency and make Fife a greener and fairer place to live.
