Greener Kirkcaldy is an Approved Training Centre that offers the following Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) training courses and qualifications:

Tutors
Our tutors are experienced trainers and have worked with a range of people and participants.
Courses
Our courses are delivered in person and are open to everyone from volunteers to staff that are involved in the preparation and handling of food. A good level of English is required to get the most out of the course . Course materials and exam papers are available in different formats. Please let us know in advance if any individual requirements are needed.
Costs
Courses are priced per person. This include materials, certificate registration, and your certificate (on completion of the course test). Our courses are run as a social enterprise. Any profits support our work in the community.

Courses on offer
Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate (6 hours plus 30 minutes for exam)
The REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate is a practical course designed to give food handlers a basic knowledge and understanding of the causes of food poisoning, measures for prevention and the legal aspects of food hygiene in Scotland.
The Elementary Food Hygiene course has been independently rated on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at Level 5 with 1 credit.
Elementary Food Hygiene Refresher (4 hours)
The REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Refresher Course is a new workbook-based course aimed at persons already holding an elementary level food hygiene qualification that is 3 to 5 years old. The course which lasts half a day is designed to update and refresh existing knowledge. Part of the course includes an assessment and candidates that successfully complete this will receive a Refresher Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate.

Elementary Food and Health Course (6 hours)
This course will include the value of having a balanced diet, considering the barriers to eating a healthy diet, the function of food, energy measures and influences on food intake and eating for health.
The Elementary Food and Health course has been independently rated on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at Level 5 with 1 credit.
Introduction to Food and Health Certificate (3 hours)
The REHIS Introduction to Food and Health is a 3-hour non-examined course that aims to provide participants with a basic knowledge and understanding of healthy eating, nutrition and health.
REHIS/Allergy Action UK Allergy Awareness Training (3 hours)
Allergy Awareness course which is jointly awarded by REHIS and Allergy Action. The three-hour course can be tailored for hotels and restaurants, schools and colleges, nurseries and child care, and care homes.
