FULLY BOOKED – Food Matters – Greener Kirkcaldy’s Annual Gathering and AGM 2017
Food Matters – Inspiring our community through good food
This event is now FULLY BOOKED
Saturday 27th May 2017, 10am – 2.30pm
Adam Smith Theatre, Bennochy Road, Kirkcaldy, KY1 1ET
Join us for a free event to explore the importance of food in our community, and how the food we grow and eat can have an impact on people and places.
Greener Kirkcaldy has plans for a Community Food Hub in Kirkcaldy – a place where people can come together to grow, cook, eat and learn. Hear about what we are planning and have a short tour of the town centre premises we have purchased. We’ll also have two inspiring speakers talking to us about how they have been involved in creating places that focus on a range of ‘food matters’ including community food, local and sustainable food, sharing food skills and more.
Mary Clear: Co-founder of Incredible Edible Todmorden, West Yorkshire: a Community Benefit Society maintaining the community spirit and ethos of Incredible Edible. They grow vegetables, fruit and herbs all around Todmorden for everyone to share, and are passionate about people working together for a world where all share responsibility for the future wellbeing of our planet and ourselves.
Emily Harvey: Development Manager for Food and Growing with Forth Environmental Link. Grow Forth is a local food network in Forth Valley that works closely with local communities, community food projects and local food businesses. They focus on connecting the community to grow, source, cook and eat local food, culminating in a Stirling Food Hub. They also run the Stirling Food Assembly.
Working with local people and our members is really important to us and we want to ensure that we run projects and activities that will benefit all of our community. We’ll be starting a conversation to explore and generate ideas for what we’d like to do over the next 5 years from 2018. We would really like to hear about what’s important to you, so come along and tell us what you think.
We’ll be exhibiting lots of information about our work and how you could get involved, including volunteering opportunities and membership of Greener Kirkcaldy.
Our Annual Gathering will run from 10am (tea and coffee from 9.30am) until 1pm. Our AGM will take place after lunch at 1.45pm.
Booking closes on Tuesday 23rd May, so book your place now!
