Support Greener Kirkcaldy through the Fife Firewalk Challenge

We’re taking on the Fife Charities Firewalk! This challenge, with Firewalk Scotland, brings together five incredible local charities. Fife Gingerbread, Greener Kirkcaldy, Fife Women’s Aid, Fife Young Carers and Clued Up all have participants raising money for their causes. Thank you for helping us make the most of this fiery challenge!
On Wednesday 19th February at Balbirnie House, 10 brave people will step up to the challenge and walk barefoot over fire to raise funds for Greener Kirkcaldy.
Our participants are a group of staff, board members and volunteers. They are raising funds to make Kirkcaldy a better place to live and work. We are aiming to raise £1,000 and donations made through this event will support projects, events and skills training to achieve the needs and goals of local people – building resilience as a community and working towards a future where everyone can live better and tread more lightly on our planet.
You can help us by donating directly to our team. Your contribution, no matter what the size, will go a long way to supporting us.
Help make a difference by making a donation.
Meet the team
We have a fantastic team of ten brave people who have stepped up to the challenge.
Chantelle
My name is Chantelle Nikiperowicz, I am one of the Receptionists/Administrators here at Greener Kirkcaldy and part of my role is to welcome everyone into our building at 8 East Fergus Place, while communicating the different events and workshops we hold. I want to fundraise money for my workplace, this will enable us to continue the great work we do and more while bringing the community together as a community-led charity.
Dianne
My name is Dianne Girvan and I have been working with Greener Kirkcaldy for nearly 12 years. I have seen the difference this organisation has made to so many individuals affected by the climate emergency, food insecurity and fuel poverty.
Hayley
I volunteer on Greener Kirkcaldy’s Board and love being part of grass roots community action for the climate emergency so much I’m willing to walk through Fire!
Kirsty
My name is Kirsty Makin, I am one of the receptionists at Greener Kirkcaldy. I welcome everyone to the building and assist those needing support by signposting them to the various help and support services we have available. I want to fundraise to help Greener Kirkcaldy to continue provide support and activities to our local community.
Kit
I am firewalking and fundraising to support Greener Kirkcaldy, a diverse and dynamic organisation who are striving to tackle major social, economic and environmental issues through community engagement.
As a member of the Community Garden team, my focus is empowerment and positivity through action and effort; I believe that getting together with others and working together in a green space is a wonderful environment to help us feel better, feel relevant, and feel like a part of something much bigger.
Lauren and her dad Michael
I am Lauren Brook, Chief Executive of Greener Kirkcaldy. I’ve been involved in Greener Kirkcaldy for almost 12 years, starting as a volunteer in 2013. I joined Greener Kirkcaldy because I wanted to make a difference to my local community and take action on the climate emergency. I am so proud to have become Chief Executive of such an AMAZING charity that truly makes a difference to people’s lives and works tirelessly to make Kirkcaldy, and Fife, a greener and fairer place to live.
My dad – Michael Parry – lives in Kirkcaldy and is a member of Greener Kirkcaldy (and a dare devil). He’s keen to help raise money to support Greener Kirkcaldy’s work… and run through fire!
Matt
I’m Matthew Lawson and I volunteer with Greener Kirkcaldy as a Trustee. I am taking part in a Firewalk to help Greener Kirkcaldy raise money to support their fantastic community based sustainability work.
Marie
I really value the work Greener Kirkcaldy does to help the community. I volunteer at the Community Garden at Ravenscraig Walled Garden and I love it.
Michelle
I am Michelle Selbie, a Development Worker with the Community Engagement Team at Greener Kirkcaldy. I am saying YES to spontaneous activities in 2025 and what better way is there to kick this year off than to do a CHARITY FIREWALK, to raise money for our amazing charity. Our staff and volunteers work tirelessly to support our local community. Any donations are greatly appreciated and will make such a difference locally.
