Celebrating the first year of Love Oor Lang Toun and looking ahead to creating a 21st Century Kirkcaldy to be proud of!
Join Love Oor Lang Toun as they celebrate their first birthday!
Hear about what they have been doing since they launched last April and find out about their plan for the next three years.
They’re also excited to have a guest speaker – Professor Leigh Sparks, Chair of Scotland’s Towns Partnership speaking at the event.
Leigh Sparks is Professor of Retail Studies and Deputy Principal at the University of Stirling. He is well known for his academic work on retailing and town centres. He was a member of the National Review of Town Centres in 2013 and has been the Chair of Scotland’s Towns Partnership since 2014. He recently chaired the review for the Scottish Government into the Town Centre Action Plan (“A New Future for Scotland’s Town Centres”) and was a member of their Social Renewal Advisory Board. He is also on the Ministerial Retail Strategy Advisory Group.
Professor Sparks will talk about the “A New Future for Scotland’s Towns” Action Plan, including its key findings and vision for the future, what a vibrant town centre will look like and what role a town’s community can play to create a positive future.
Finally, they’ll be giving you a chance to share your views for the future of the town.
