Techy Tuesday – Introduction to Brake Set-up

Lang Toun Cycles’ expert mechanics will discuss the principles of different braking systems, including cable rim brakes, cable disc brakes and hydraulic disc brakes work. We will show you how to check your brake pads or blocks are within wear limits and guide you through replacing a set of pads or blocks and ensuring they are aligned correctly with your rims/discs.

What is covered?

• Identifying some rim and disc brake systems
• Checking for wear on brake pads / blocks
• Removing and refitting brake pads / discs. (New pads / discs may be available to buy in store, depending on systems and availability)
• Aligning and resetting pads / blocks

Ideally you should bring along your own, clean bike if you like, or use one of our provided bikes. We will provide the required tools, protective equipment and work stands.
