Summer Pruning Workshop

Our holistic fruit tree care and pruning workshop will introduce you to pruning apple, pear, cherry and plum trees, taking a natural approach. We’ll cover basic techniques and methods to start you pruning with confidence at home. We’ll also look at common pests and diseases, and how to deal with them organically. The course is based at our orchard in Ravenscraig Walled Garden and covers some theory about pruning but is largely practical and outside, allowing hands on practice and question time.
Summer pruning should take place from the end of July, so this workshop gives you the chance to learn some skills before its time to prune your own trees.
The workshop will be led by Appletreeman Andrew Lear, an expert on growing fruit in the Scottish climate (and a key influence on the development of our Ravenscraig orchard). More information about Andrew on his website.
No experience necessary. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and walking footwear. There is disabled parking on site and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
