Rag Rugging Workshop
Tuesday 22nd October: 6:00pm to 8:30pm
£20 – £25
Join textile expert Morag Platt for a workshop on rag rugging. Rag work used to be common in rural, mining and fishing communities where every scrap of fabric had to be reused in some way. This traditional craft involves hooking or prodding strips of fabric into a mesh (usually hessian) base, and can be used to recycle textiles into rugs, wall-hangings, bags, cushion covers, pictures and many other household objects.
This session will show examples of rag work items and introduce the basic techniques. You will start your own piece of rug which you can then take home and finish. All materials and equipment will be provided. Refreshments provided.
Come along, learn a new skill and have some fun!
