Rag Rugging Workshop (FULLY BOOKED)
Join textile expert Morag Platt for a workshop on Rag-rugging. Rag work used to be common in rural, mining and fishing communities where every scrap of fabric had to be reused in some way. This traditional craft involves hooking or prodding strips of fabric into a mesh (usually hessian) base, and can be used to recycle textiles into rugs, wall-hangings, bags, cushion covers, pictures and many other household objects.
This session will show examples of rag work items and introduce the basic techniques. You will start your own piece of rug which you can then take home and finish. All materials and equipment will be provided.
Classes are small to ensure you get the personal tuition you need. PLEASE NOTE: There is a minimum number of participants required for this workshop to go ahead.
There is disabled parking on site and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
