Fakeaway your takeaway
‘Fakeaways’ are homemade meals that replicate your favourite takeaways. In this workshop you’ll get to create and experiment with ingredients to make your own fakeaway. You will be making:
Chicken Shwarma – marinated chicken thighs threaded in the classic takeaway style then baked and served with classic accompaniments of salad and Tahini sauce. These are spicy, tender and fun to make.
Classic Egg Fried Rice – this flavoursome takeaway favourite is delicious and can be adapted to suit all tastes. A great recipe for using up leftovers too! Please choose Tofu or chicken when booking.
Sam will demonstrate how to make:
Greek Gyros – Roasted vegetables and spiced chickpeas with traditional toppings of tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce folded into a flatbread.
This is a hands-on cooking class. All food made can be taken away and enjoyed at home.
This workshop will be led by Samantha Kirk, our Community Chef.
Sam has years of experience as a private chef and brings a wealth of culinary skills and knowledge of both local and world cuisine to The Lang Spoon Community Kitchen.
Some cooking skills are required to enjoy this workshop i.e. basic knife skills. Please bring some containers to take home your food.
If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, or you would like to talk about any if the ingredients we will be using in the workshop, please let us know when you are booking. All dishes made can be taken away and enjoyed at home.
Our cooking workshops are social enterprise events. All profits are reinvested back into our community.
