Autumn cordials, fruit vinegars and gin infusions
This workshop is an introduction to making fruit and herb cordials and vinegars, and infusing gin – using ingredients from our gardens or foraged locally.
On our fun and informative workshop, you’ll learn some basic recipes that you can then adapt at home to create a variety of options.
We’ll look at the ingredients and how to identify them. We’ll pick elderberries, herbs and brambles at the gardens and discuss how to use them, and we’ll share ideas about herbs and fruit you can use to create your own infusions.
The course is hands-on – we’ll make cordial and vinegar and start the gin infusion for you to continue with at home. There will be time to discuss, taste and compare notes.
You’ll leave inspired and ready to experiment.
The course is suitable for beginners and people interested in trying out something new.
Please bring a large jar with a lid for the gin infusion and a bag to take home your creations, we’ll supply the bottles for the vinegar and cordial
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and be prepared to be outside in all weathers! The workshop will take place at Ravenscraig Walled Garden, directions will be on your ticket.

Travelling to Ravenscraig Walled Garden
Greener Kirkcaldy’s Community Garden and Allotment is based with Ravenscraig Walled Garden. Google map should be created using co-ordinates: 56.124960440980026, -3.1260706571966463 for directions the the garden gate.
The gates to the garden are located at the Dysart end of Ravenscraig park; on the corner of Dysart Road and West Quality Street. You will see gates entering into Ravenscraig Park. Just past these gates are two green metal gates beside a red brick wall – that is the entrance to Ravenscraig Walled Garden. Go through the green gates and follow the path around to your right past the car park. Keep to the right and you will see a big space with lots of allotments. If you look to the left, you will see a green ‘cabin’ with a polytunnel and raised beds. That is where we meet. If no-one there, people might be in our old plot – Go past the two flower beds on the left and you will see a green hedge in the left. Our community garden is behind the hedge on the left. It has a big brown shed on it.
