Autumn Chutneys and Hedgerow Ketchup
This workshop is an introduction to making chutneys and ketchup – using seasonal ingredients grown or foraged locally.
On our fun and informative workshop you’ll learn some basic recipes that you can then adapt at home to create a variety of options.
We’ll be selecting the produce direct from the garden, and cooking outdoors.
We’ll look at the ingredients and how to identify them. We’ll select squash, apples, pears and hedgerow berries and herbs from the gardens. Then we’ll discuss how to use them to make delicious chutneys and ketchups. We’ll share ideas about veg, herbs and fruit you can use to create your own versions at home.
The course is hands-on – we’ll make squash and apple chutney*, and a ketchup at our covered outdoor cooking stations. There will be time to discuss, taste and compare notes.
You’ll leave inspired and ready to experiment.
The course is suitable for beginners and people interested in trying out something new. No experience necessary. Please bring a jar with a lid for the chutney and a bag to take home your creations, we’ll supply the bottles for the ketchup.
Your tutor for the morning will be Jackie one of our experienced gardeners who has a passion for growing, preserving and cooking.
*The ingredients may vary depending on seasonal availability.
