A Taste of South America (Sold Out)

In this class we will be making two very popular street foods from South America, and learn about other exciting dishes from this part of the world.

Empanadas– This delicate savoury pastry is enjoyed in many South American countries. We will make the pastry and filling (choice or meat or vegetable) and bake in class for you to enjoy at home with salsa made in class.

Arepas– This is a corn style bread cut to make little pockets and filled with many exciting different flavours. They are common in Columbia and Venezuela and eaten any time of the day. We will make the Arepas and sit down and eat them at the end of the class. There will be a choice of popular filling to choose to explore different flavours from South America

This is a hands-on cooking class. All dishes made can be taken away and enjoyed at home. Veggie and Vegan recipe alternatives are always available – please indicate any individual requirements on the form when you are booking.

This workshop will be led by our Community Chef Iain McLellan, a skilled and talented Head Chef with over 20 years cooking experience. Iain is passionate about world cuisines and sharing his love of flavour combinations.

Some cooking skills are required to enjoy this workshop i.e. basic knife skills.  Please bring some containers to take home your food.

Accessibility Information

There are accessible parking bays available outside 8 East Fergus Place. We have a ramp into the building and level access throughout. There is also an accessible toilet. We have an adjustable cooking station for those in wheelchairs or who need to sit while cooking.
