SUMMARY:Staycation - Should I Stay or Should I Go?
DESCRIPTION:Join an expert panel to discuss our holiday choices and the climate impact of flying. \nStaycation: Should I Stay or Should I Go? is an event for Fife College students who would like to debate our holiday choices. We will consider whether we prefer holidays at home or abroad\, and how our holiday choices impact on the climate. \nThe event will begin at 10am\, but doors open from 9.30am. \nThe event is aimed at Travel and Tourism\, Events and Hospitality students but everyone is welcome. \nWe will discuss barriers to holidaying at home/abroad; what we love about overseas travel and staycations; consider whether we should be trying to reduce the amount we fly and what climate change might mean for the travel industry. \nWe will be joined by an expert panel who will take part in a chaired debate of the issues. Students will be able to join in the debate and ask questions. \nThe event will finish with time to explore interactive activities on different sustainability themes from the Climate Action Fife project: \n\nClimate-friendly food\,\nClimate-friendly travel\nClimate-friendly holidays\n\nCompetition\nEveryone who signs up and attends the event will be entered into a prize draw to win an outdoor adventure experience in Scotland. \nAbout\nClimate Action Fife brings together individuals\, communities\, local government and businesses to tackle the climate emergency and make Fife a greener and fairer place to live. Climate Action Fife is supported by the National Lottery Community Fund’s Climate Action Fund. \nThis event is brought to you by Greener Kirkcaldy and Fife College\, both of whom are partners of the Climate Action Fife project \nBooking Information\nThe event is free but booking is required. DESCRIPTION:Join us on the eve of Scotland’s national saint St Andrew\, to celebrate 10 years of Greener Kirkcaldy. We love an excuse to have a party\, so please join us at a traditional\, family friendly ceilidh with music provided by local award winning accordionist James Coutts and his band\, and some special guests. If you don’t know your Strip the Willow from your Dashing White Sergeant\, he’ll guide you through every step. Don’t worry if you’ve never been to a ceilidh before\, we just want you to have fun and help us celebrate.  \nThere will be a cash only bar with a selection of beers and wines\, as well as soft drinks. We’ll be serving a supper of Haggis Stovies and homemade tablet. You can also try your luck in our prize raffle – we’ll be selling tickets on the night (cash only). Keep an eye out on our website as we reveal our raffle prizes. \nDoors open at 7.30pm with dancing starting at 8pm. We’ll break for supper at 8.45pm\, announce raffle winners at 9.15 and resume dancing after that. DESCRIPTION:Join textile expert Morag Platt for a workshop on Rag-rugging. Rag work used to be common in rural\, mining and fishing communities where every scrap of fabric had to be reused in some way. This traditional craft involves hooking or prodding strips of fabric into a mesh (usually hessian) base\, and can be used to recycle textiles into rugs\, wall-hangings\, bags\, cushion covers\, pictures and many other household objects. \nThis session will show examples of rag work items and introduce the basic techniques. You will start your own piece of rug which you can then take home and finish. All materials and equipment will be provided. \nClasses are small to ensure you get the personal tuition you need. SUMMARY:Rag Rugging Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join textile expert Morag Platt for a workshop on Rag-rugging. Rag work used to be common in rural\, mining and fishing communities where every scrap of fabric had to be reused in some way. This traditional craft involves hooking or prodding strips of fabric into a mesh (usually hessian) base\, and can be used to recycle textiles into rugs\, wall-hangings\, bags\, cushion covers\, pictures and many other household objects. \nThis session will show examples of rag work items and introduce the basic techniques. You will start your own piece of rug which you can then take home and finish. All materials and equipment will be provided. \nClasses are small to ensure you get the personal tuition you need.
