SUMMARY:Climate Friendly Gardens - Introduction to Forest Gardening
DESCRIPTION:Forest gardens are food producing systems which mimic natural woodland\, supporting biodiversity whilst providing an abundant harvest. You don’t need any big trees to get started though\, even small gardens or allotment plots can become food forests! \nThis interactive session will introduce the key ideas behind forest gardening and how you can apply them in your own growing space. We will use the community training garden at Ravenscraig Walled Garden as a live example to look at how the principles can be applied. \nJanice Gibson is a keen gardener with an interest in permaculture. She designed and implemented the forest garden at PLANT (People Learning about Nature in Tayport)\, and helps to maintain it. \nThis workshop should be of interest to all gardeners\, from the more seasoned to absolute beginners! \nWe will provide tea/coffee\, biscuits\, some homegrown herbal teas and fruity snacks. Participants should bring a packed lunch as there are no shops nearby. \n\nBooking Information\nThe event is free but booking is required. You can choose to purchase a ticket with a donation. Donations help us do more work in our community. \nOur booking form includes a series of optional anonymous questions. These help us learn more about the people we reach through our events.
