SUMMARY:Doors Open Day walk: Lang Toun Cycles to Ravenscraig Walled Garden
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a sociable stroll linking two Greener Kirkcaldy projects. Starting at Lang Toun Cycles\, we’ll head through town\, past Ravenscraig Castle and through the beautiful park and woods to our Community Training Garden. \nThe 1.5-mile walk will take around 45 minutes\, and be on fairly flat\, paved surfaces with some sections of gravel footpath. There is a flight of steps past Ravenscraig Castle\, which will be bypassed if participants prefer/require a step-free route. \nPlease note this route is 1 way and stops at Ravenscraig Walled Gardens near Dysart. \nContact us if you need any more information. You can email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk or call us on 01592 858 458 during opening hours. \nThis event is part of our Bike\, Walk\, Move programme and Doors Open Day. \nAdditional Information\nPlease note that this walk is weather-dependent. DESCRIPTION:This is the big one! Riding from Lang Toun Cycles to the Forth Road Bridge and back again along the Fife Coastal Path. A full day riding to the Forth Road Bridge and back. \nThere will be the option for people to ride to the bridge and get the train back / arrange to be picked up. People doing the one-way ride are responsible for arranging their own transport back home. \nWith riding on all types of surfaces\, there will be elevation changes to challenge you going up as well as down and plenty of chances to share stories and the fun of off-road riding. \nLang Toun Cycles’ Project Manager David Glover is leading these events. David is an experienced mountainbiker\, racer and multi-day bikepacker. He has a Mountain Bike Leader qualification and has a UKCC Level 2 MTB (United Kingdom Coaching Certificate Level 2 Mountain Bike). \nYou will be in safe and capable hands and have the opportunity to increase your confidence riding off-road. \nRoute info\nPart 1 route map \nPart 1 of the route is 17.5 miles in length with approx. 430ft of elevation \nPart 2 route map \nPart 2 of the route is 21.3 miles in length with approx. 755ft of climbing \nAdditional Information\nPlease note that this bike ride is weather-dependent. \nPlease bring sufficient fluid and food to last you all day\, especially if you are coming along for both parts. \nPlease make sure your bike is roadworthy before coming and note that helmets are mandatory on this ride. \nYour bike must be an off-road capable bicycle in safe working order. SUMMARY:Bronze Age Kirkcaldy bike ride
DESCRIPTION:Join us to explore Kirkcaldy’s hidden Bronze Age history. We’ll start at Lang Toun Cycles and follow a circular route stopping at six historical points. One of these stops is Kirkcaldy Gallery and Museum\, which is home to some Bronze Age exhibits. \nThe route will also take in Beveridge Park and some quiet woodlands. There will be Archaeology students with you on the ride to help share the past in detail and to bring history alive. Please note that we may have to change the route because of weather conditions. \nThis ride is ideal for people looking to learn more about Kirkcaldy’s fascinating history while enjoying cycling around the town. \nRoute info:\nDistance – short\nHills – moderately hilly\nSurfaces – mainly smooth\, good-quality surfaces. Some short sections with slightly rougher surfaces.\nRoute – mainly on-shared paths\, with short stretches on quiet roads. Some short sections on a busy road. \nAdditional Information\nPlease note that this bike ride is weather-dependent. \nParticipants should be able to cycle for 2.5 hours at a leisurely pace with plenty of breaks. A ride to the Forth Road Bridge and back.  \nThis ride is part of the Kirkcaldy Cycling Festival and is free thanks to funding from Paths For All’s Smarter Choices\, Smarter Places programme.
