SUMMARY:Tree Detectives Walk: Discovering Kirkcaldy’s Urban Trees
DESCRIPTION:Ever wanted to be a Citizen Scientist? \nThis walk gives you an opportunity to learn about tree ID\, and help build a picture of Fife’s urban trees. We’ll use the ‘Fife Tree Canopy Survey’ app to record the trees we find\, noting their species\, condition and size. \nTrees have so many benefits to our world\, from boosting our wellbeing to helping tackle the climate emergency by providing shade and capturing carbon. The more we know about Fife’s trees\, the better we can protect and enhance them. \nWe’ll start by learning to survey some street trees\, then head to Beveridge Park with its beautiful mix of native and ornamental trees \nThe 2 mile walk will take up to 2 hours\, and be on a variety of surfaces: tarmac\, pavement\, park paths and mown grass. \nNo prior knowledge of tree ID or the survey is necessary\, and all necessary equipment will be provided. \nNo dogs on this walk\, please. \nThis event is being run in partnership with Fife Coast and Countryside Trust. \nAdditional Information\nPlease note that this walk is weather-dependent. In the event of forecast adverse weather\, Greener Kirkcaldy staff will decide whether to go ahead with the walk the day before. We will contact attendees via phone and email if the walk cannot go ahead. \nParticipants should be able to walk 2 miles at a leisurely pace. The route is on tarmac\, pavements\, park paths and mown grass. Mostly level\, parts may be muddy. \nSuitable for all ages but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease wear appropriate clothes for the weather. \nNo dogs please. \nIf you want to know more specific information about the route please contact us. You can call 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk. \nBooking Instructions\nThe event is free but booking is required. \nOur booking form includes a series of optional anonymous questions. These help us learn more about the people we reach through our events. Any information you choose to share about your background is managed separately to information that you give us to process your booking (for example\, your name). \nIf you are having trouble booking you can call 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk for assistance. \nAccessibility information\nSuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs\, but please advise us of accessibility needs on booking. \nAccessible parking is available at the Town House. \n  \n\n\n
