SUMMARY:Off-road cycling skills coaching
DESCRIPTION:Starting from the basics\, develop your cycling skills to more confidently take on rougher off-road routes on your mountain or gravel bike. \nThis event is part of the Kirkcaldy Cycling Festival and is free thanks to funding from Smarter Choices Smarter Places. Attendees at the event will have the opportunity to enter the Kirkcaldy Cycling Festival prize draw. \nThe 3-hour session will cover three main core principles of better off-road riding:  \nReady position and dynamic movement – riding out of the saddle and moving your weight smooths the trail and allow you to ride easier over rough ground  \nCornering – steering and cornering off-road come with their own challenges – looser\, softer surfaces require a bit more thought and planning. We will cover essential approaches to allow you to corner with confidence \nFront wheel lifts – the ability to unweight and even lift your front wheel over trail features and obstacles not only look cool but makes your riding smoother and less fatiguing overall.  \nLang Toun Cycles’ Project Manager David Glover is leading these events. David is an experienced mountainbiker\, racer and multi-day bikepacker. He has a Mountain Bike Leader qualification and has a UKCC Level 2 MTB (United Kingdom Coaching Certificate Level 2 Mountain Bike).  \nYou will be in safe and capable hands and have the opportunity to increase your confidence riding off-road.  \n Additional Information\nYou must be over 16 to take part. \nPlease note that this event is weather-dependent. \nPlease bring sufficient fluid and snacks to keep you going for up to 3 hours of riding \nPlease make sure your bike is roadworthy before coming and note that helmets are mandatory on this ride.  \nYour bike must be an off-road capable bicycle in safe working order. This can be either a mountain bike with minimum 1.75 inch wide knobbly tyres\, or a cross/gravel bike with minimum 35mm wide knobbly tyre. \nRiders are also to bring at least one spare inner tube that is the correct size for their bike. Ask in-store at Lang Toun Cycles if you need advice. \nPlease wear appropriate clothes for cycling and the weather on the day. SUMMARY:Community cyclocross at Dunnikier Park
DESCRIPTION:This community cyclocross event is a great introduction to competitive cyclocross. It is a fun entry-level event for those interested in getting out there and learning new skills on their bikes and trying their hand at competition cycling in a low-pressure environment.  \nThe course is approximately 2.5km around a parkland gravel circuit in Dunnikier Park\, Kirkcaldy. You must be 16 or over to participate. Helmets are mandatory for all participants.  \nSign-in starts from 12:30pm with the race starting at 2pm. Timing chips will be provided. \nPart of the Kirkcaldy Cycling Festival\, this event will be running alongside the family fun day also taking place in Dunnikier Park. There is plenty of fun to be had for both competitors and spectators. \nAttendees at the event will have the opportunity to enter the Kirkcaldy Cycling Festival prize draw. \nBooking information  \nThe cost to take part is £20. You must book by 31st July. \nIf you have any problems booking\, or any questions\, please phone 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk. \nPlease note no refunds can be given after 6th July. \nAccessibility \nPublic disabled parking is available. Adapted bikes and e-bikes are not suitable for this course\, but the family fun day is accessible to all.  \nThose with disabilities are welcome to enter if they can confidently cycle on a gravel or mountain bike for 45 minutes.

DESCRIPTION:Come along on a lovely walk through the woods with local expert guide\, Tony Wilson who will be telling us interesting woodland facts. \nThis event is free and open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes. \nPlease note that the walk will go over some uneven ground and may be difficult to access in parts.
