SUMMARY:Sunday Social - Glenrothes Gallivant (new route)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a leisurely bike ride. This ride will head to Glenrothes\, where it will do a loop along some of the town’s most scenic routes\, before heading back to Kirkcaldy. \nThis ride is ideal for people looking to build up their fitness with a longer ride. The route passes by Fife Council’s base at Bankhead\, showing you a quiet route for anyone wanting to commute to Glenrothes. \nRoute Information \n\nDistance – long\nHills – one long hill\nSurfaces – mainly surfaced\, with one section on compacted earth\nRoute – mainly on traffic-free paths\, with some on quiet roads. One short stretch on a busier road.\n\nAdditional Information\nPlease note that this bike ride is weather-dependent. \nParticipants should be able to cycle for 2-2.5hrs at a leisurely pace. \nPlease make sure your bike is roadworthy before coming and wear appropriate clothes for the weather. Remember to also bring your own water and snacks. There are some sections that will be on unpaved surfaces. \nUnder 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. \nIf you want to know more specific information about the route please contact us. SUMMARY:Lang Toun summer trails - Take it to the Lomonds cycle
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an off-road adventure! Starting from the old Bank of Scotland building near Kirkcaldy Asda\, this cycle is a longer hilly route north through Thornton\, Glenrothes and into the Lomond hill and back. \nThe ride will be led by Greener Kirkclady’s Active Travel Project Manager\, David Glover who is an experienced mountain bike rider\, racer and multi-day bikepacker. David has a Mountain Bike Leader qualification and as a UKCC Level 2 MTB coach\, so you will be in safe\, capable hands. \nThe route map can be found here. \nYou can download the GPX of the route to your own device. \n  \nWith riding on all types of surfaces\, there will be elevations changes to challenge you going up as well as down\, and plenty of chance to share stories and the fun of off-road riding. \nPlease bring sufficient fluid and snacks to keep you going for 3 hours of riding \nAdditional Information\nPlease note that this bike ride is weather-dependent and is not suitable for younger children. 16+ years only. \nYou should be able to ride a bicycle on un-sealed paths and rougher off road surfaces \nYou should have an off-road capable bicycle in safe working order. This can be either a mountain bike with minimum 1.75 inch wide knobbly tyres\, or a gravel bike with minimum 40mm wide knobbly tyre. \nDue to the technical nature of these rides and the increased risks of falls\, Cycle Helmets are mandatory for all participants \nRiders are also to bring at least one spare inner tube that is the correct size for their bike. \nThese rides will last until late evening\, so working lights front and rear are also required \nFor advice about lights\, inner tubes or if your bike is suitable; please ask in store at Lang Toun Cycles \nIf you want to know more specific information about the route please contact us.
