SUMMARY:Film screening: Offshore
DESCRIPTION:Offshore is an independent documentary that brings together varying perspectives on working in offshore oil and gas and renewable energy – and explores what the coming energy transition means for workers and communities around the North Sea. \nThe film looks at how communities and regions have been impacted by past industrial decline\, the risks workers face in an increasingly precarious industry and how they can organise for the future. \n \nOFFSHORE | Documentary trailer \nThe climate crisis means we must rethink our energy systems: where we get energy from\, how it’s produced and who benefits from it. Workforces and communities all over the UK will be impacted by the energy transition and have the potential to benefit from more publicly owned\, local and renewable energy. \nFollowing the 20-minute documentary\, we will have time to discuss the film and the Just Transition in Scotland and Fife. \nBooking information\nThis film screening is free to attend\, but spaces are limited so booking is required. \nIf you have any problems booking or any questions\, please phone 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk \nAccessibility\nThere are accessible parking bays available outside 8 East Fergus Place. We have a ramp into the building and level access throughout. There is also an accessible toilet. \nIf you have any other accessibility questions please phone 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk.

SUMMARY:A place for everyone\, everyday: Greener Kirkcaldy Annual Gathering & AGM
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Annual Gathering will focus on Kirkcaldy\, our place\, and our community. \nWe’ll be talking about the importance of participation and how everyone can get involved and influence change in their communities. We’ll also be thinking about Greener Kirkcaldy’s place in the community and giving you an opportunity to help shape our future plans. \nOur Keynote Speaker\nWe’re delighted to announce that our keynote speaker this year will be Emily Wallace\, National Programme Manager\, Appetite for Change within the People in Place team at Corra Foundation. Corra Foundation is an independent Scottish grant-making organisation which exists to make a difference to the lives of people and communities. The People in Place programme uses innovative place-based approaches to help people and communities to create positive change. \nEmily is currently working on the research and co-design phase of ‘Every One Every Day’ in Kirkcaldy. It aims to put the infrastructure in place to support people to participate more in their communities\, in ways that make sense to them. It’s people-led\, place-based\, grassroots\, and inclusive. Emily will talk to us about the importance of participation\, what that looks like in the modern world\, and why we need approaches that are not afraid to fail. \nThinking about the future: help us shape our next Strategic Plan\nWe hope listening to Emily will inspire you to think about what you would like to see happening in your community. \nWe’re in the process of writing our new 5-year Strategic Plan (2023-28) and we want your help to shape our future plans. Our new Strategic Plan will set out our ambitions for the years ahead and gives us a route map for planning our projects and services. After Emily’s talk\, we’ll tell you more about our ideas for the next five years\, ask for your feedback and\, most importantly\, give you chance to tell us your own hopes\, thoughts and ideas for the future.  \nThe gathering will take place in our town centre community building at 8 East Fergus Place\, so you’ll also get an opportunity to explore the building and find out more about our activities there. \nOur AGM\nThe event will conclude with our AGM. We’ll share the agenda and papers on our website and in our building soon. \nBooking information\nOur Annual Gathering is free to attend but spaces are limited\, so booking is required. \nBreakfast rolls will be served on arrival from 10am. Please let us know any dietary requirements when booking your ticket. Our programme will start promptly at 10.30am. \nThere are accessible parking bays available outside 8 East Fergus Place. We have a ramp into the building and level access throughout. There is also an accessible toilet. \nIf you have any problems booking or any questions\, please phone 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk
