SUMMARY:Kirkcaldy Walking Festival: "Mile...Mile & A Half" Online Film Screening (SOLD OUT)
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Kirkcaldy Walking Festival 2020 with a free online screening of the film\, “Mile…Mile & A Half”. \nIn an epic snow year\, five friends leave their daily lives behind to hike California’s historic John Muir Trail\, a 211-mile stretch from Yosemite to Mt. Whitney (the highest peak in the contiguous U.S.). Their goal – complete the journey in 25 days while capturing the amazing sights & sounds they encounter along the way. Inspired by their bond\, humour\, artistry & dedication\, the group continues to grow: to include other artists\, musicians & adventure seekers. Before they all reach the summit\, hikers and viewers alike affirm the old adage – it’s about the journey\, not the destination. \nThis film is a celebration of stunning views\, great friendships and one of Scotland’s greatest naturalist. This film will make you want to pull on your boots\, grab your friends and head for the hills. \n \nBooking Information: \nThis event is free\, but booking is essential as places are limited. \nA link to the film will be sent out to you before 6pm on 31st July\, just before the start of Online Walking Festival. You have 3 days to watch the movie from the point you click the link and can watch it as many time as you like during this time. \nIf ordering after 31st July\, the link will be sent within 24 hours. \nIf you have any problems booking\, or any questions\, please phone 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk. \nBy booking on to this event\, you agree to be sent a short online survey about your thoughts on climate change. \nKirkcaldy Walking Festival is running from the 1st to 9th August 2020. SUMMARY:Dr Bike
DESCRIPTION:Book your bike in for a free bike check and minor adjustments and repairs. \nAt Dr Bike sessions\, experienced mechanics check everything on your bike from wheels\, brakes\, gears and tyre pressure to lights\, racks\, pedals\, saddles and more. Any minor adjustments we can make to the bike\, we do there and then. This will include free replacement of brake cables and blocks where required. \nFor more complicated repairs that we can’t fix on site\, we will let you know exactly what needs to be done and give you a rough idea of what it should cost at a bike shop. \nA “Dr Bike health report” will be supplied to customers afterwards. \nThis event will be conducted with social distancing measures and bike cleaning measures in place. \nBooking Information\nThe event is free but booking is required. Each bike will need its own half-hour slot – if your household has more than one bike that needs repairing\, please book more than one slot. \nIf you are having trouble booking you can email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk for assistance.

SUMMARY:Monthly Climate Cafe - June (online)
DESCRIPTION:Be part of tackling climate change – join us for monthly films\, guest speakers and discussions. \n  \nThis month we will be hosting an online event: a film showing of the 2018 film The Green Lie\, followed by an online discussion. \n\nEnvironmentally-friendly electric cars\, sustainably-produced food products\, fair production processes… Can our purchasing power help save the world? \nIn this tongue-in-cheek two-hander\, Austrian director Werner Boote and German author Kathrin Hartmann meticulously unpick some of the most prevalent ‘greenwashing’ myths at play today. They take viewers on a round-the-globe tour of corporate hypocrisy\, to the sites of catastrophic environmental disasters and shocking land rights violations – all of which are harming humans\, animals and the planet despite the glowing promises of effective self-regulation. \nFar from disempowering\, however\, this exposé of our limited choice as ethical consumers reminds us that our power as individuals does not lie in our wallets\, but in our actions and behaviours as voters\, citizens and members of our communities. \n\n\nFilms are shown in partnership with Take One Action Film Festivals. Watch at home on Wednesday 3rd June\, then join with others in the local community for our live post-film discussion.\n\nThis film has a certificate of 12+ and is English\, and German with English subtitles\n  \nBooking Information \nThe film showing and discussion is free but booking is required as places are limited. \nWe’ll send out a joining link to attendees to allow them to join on the day. \nIf you have any problems booking\, or any questions\, please phone 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk.
