SUMMARY:Streetlife: Feetlife (kids online art workshop)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our online kids art workshop for ages 5-9 and their families. Conjure up your perfect car-free neighbourhood at our Zoom workshop. What would it look like? We’ll make a collaborative map of a town where you could play and run around without worrying about traffic. \nYou’ll need pens/crayons/pencils and paper as a minimum\, but other materials are fine to use on top of that. Let’s try to imagine a whole town that is perfect for outdoor play! \nArtists Catherine Lindow and Hazel Terry will lead the workshop. They love drawing and can’t wait to hear your ideas! \nZoom is great for collaborative workshops – we ask that cameras and microphones be switched on so that we can share and discuss our drawings. We will also be joining up our work using screenshots\, so let us know if you are uneasy about photos (your child need not appear). \nAll participants will start with the same basic shape on a piece of paper – this can be emailed to parents for printing. If you don’t have a printer that’s no problem – we will give really simple instructions so you can draw it yourself (straight lines to a given size\, no artistic flair required)! \nYounger participants may need help to make best use of Zoom. Parents are encouraged to be present to offer assistance. \nThis event is part of Kirkcaldy Car-Free Week. \nBooking Information \nThe event is free but booking is required as places are limited – please book a separate space for each child. We’ll send out a Zoom joining link to attendees nearer the event. \n If you have any problems booking\, or any questions\, please phone 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk.

SUMMARY:Kirkcaldy Re-imagined (Part of Kirkcaldy Car-Free Week)
DESCRIPTION:Join us to learn about how public space can be used when places are redesigned to prioritise people over cars. \nWe will hear from Lucy Colbeck at ‘Playing Out’ about how street space can be used to enable people to play and socialise on their own streets\, as well as watching a selection of short films about how different cities around the world have re-designed their neighbourhoods and city centres to reclaim space for people. \nThese will include our brand new video about Kirkcaldy – looking at examples of locations where road space has been turned into playparks and green spaces\, and talking to local residents about what else they would like to see done. \nThis event will include a discussion about the talk\, the films and your views on what could be done in Kirkcaldy. \nThis event is part of Kirkcaldy Car-Free Week. \nBooking Instructions \nThe event is free but booking is required. \nThis event will take place on Zoom. A meeting link will be sent out the day before the webinar. \nIf you are having trouble booking you can call 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk for assistance.

SUMMARY:Putting our town centre stage: Greener Kirkcaldy Annual Gathering and AGM
DESCRIPTION:Our Annual Gathering & AGM is moving online this year! \nContinuing the conversation we started at our Kirkcaldy After Lockdown event in July\, our gathering this year will focus on ‘towns’ – why they’re so important\, and how we can put our town centre stage. \nWe’re thrilled to announce our key speaker for the evening will be Phil Prentice\, Chief Officer of Scotland’s Town Partnership and National Programme Director of Scotland’s Improvement Districts. With 25 years’ economic development experience across the public and private sectors\, Phil’s role as Chief Officer is to drive sustainable change through collaboration and partnership. Phil will talk about why towns are so important\, resilience\, recovery and renewal\, why climate change is going to be a massive driver in town centre regeneration\, how and why communities need to be more involved\, and STP’s national town centre recovery campaign – Scotland Loves Local. \nWe’ll also be joined by Kirkcaldy’s own Cara Forrester\, from the new Community Interest Company\, Love Oor Lang Toun. Love Oor Lang Toun is a collective of local people who want to create a 21st century town centre people will be proud of and want to spend time in. Working in Kirkcaldy since March this year\, they’ve already carried out a range of projects to support\, develop and promote the town centre. Cara will talk about what they’ve done so far\, and what they have planned coming up. \nOur speakers will be followed by a short Q&A and discussion. \nChair of our Board\, Christine May\, will also give an update on Greener Kirkcaldy’s activities and achievements since April 2019 and outline some of our future plans\, including those described in our recent Strategic Plan Review. \nOur gathering will be followed by our AGM\, which will include an election of the Greener Kirkcaldy Management Committee. View our AGM agenda and papers here. \n  \nBooking Information\nThis event is free\, but booking is required as spaces are limited. Our annual gathering is open to anyone\, however only members will be invited to stay and vote in our AGM. Sign up to become a member here. \nThe event will take place on Zoom. Attendees will also be able to take part by phoning in. We’ll send out a joining link and instructions to attendees to allow them to join on the day. \nIf you have any problems booking\, or any questions\, please phone 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk. \nBecoming a member of Greener Kirkcaldy is free! As well as being able to vote at our AGM and help shape our work\, our members get invited to special ‘members-only’ events and receive 10% off our workshops\, activities and at our new Lang Toun Cycles community bike shop.
