DESCRIPTION:Join us for a leisurely bike ride. This ride will head up to Dunnikier Park using a mixture of traffic-free paths and quiet roads. You will discover some lesser-known routes in the park\, before returning to Templehall via Middleden. \nKey info:\n\nDistance – short \nHills – relatively flat. \nSurfaces – mainly surfaced\, with a section of compacted earth/blaes. One very short stretch with loose stones. \nRoute – mainly on traffic-free paths\, with some on quiet roads. \n\nThis ride will show you some quiet routes to connect Templehall to Dunnikier Park. This ride is ideal for less confident cyclists who are looking to discover some quieter routes. It will also provide you with the opportunity to practice on some quieter roads\, as well as showing you one of Kirkcaldy’s newest shared use paths.  \n Additional Information\nParticipants should be able to cycle for 1 – 1.5 hrs at a leisurely pace. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease make sure your bike is roadworthy before coming and wear appropriate clothes for the weather. This event is free to attend thanks to funding from Paths For All’s Smarter Choices Smarter Places programme. \n\n\n \n\n\nIn this workshop you’ll make a few simple and tasty recipes perfect for cycling on the go or a picnic stop. \n\n\n \n\n\nHere’s what we’ll be making:\n\n\n \n\n\nSavoury puffed rolls – Choose your filling and roll…\n\n\n \n\n\nEnergy bites – a quick no cook recipe combining fruit\, nuts and seeds that you can make in bulk and store. \n\n\n \n\n\nCarrot cake overnight oats – A simple\, healthy recipe that takes only minutes to make. \n\n\n \n\n\nYou can try some of our own homemade cereal bars on arrival. \n\n\n \n\n\nOnce you’ve got the hang of preparing these appetizing travel snacks\, it’s time to plan your trip.\n\nMore about the event\nThis is a hands-on cooking class. All food made can be taken away and enjoyed at home (or while out on your bike). \nThe workshop will be delivered by Samantha Wells of Random Dining. Come along for a chat and some exercise.  \nThis ride is open to all women and non-binary people. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a leisurely walk to visit our three sites and find out how our projects are creating a greener and fairer Fife. \n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nJoin Greener Kirkcaldy for a tour of our three sites to find out how we are working locally to combat the climate emergency\, tackle fuel poverty and food insecurity\, and bring people together for a more sustainable Kirkcaldy. \nThe walk will start at our community building and community kitchen. We will share how our work engages people on climate change whilst helping them heat their homes more affordable and allowing them to eat well. From there\, we will visit our Community Bike Shop\, Lang Toun Cycles\, where we will hear how our projects are encouraging people to get on their bikes. And finally\, we will take a route past Ravenscraig Castle\, up through the park\, to visit our growing project at Ravenscraig Walled Garden. \nThis walk is part of Kirkcaldy Walking Festival. \nThe Route\nThe route is roughly 3 miles in length and total duration of the event will be around 1 hour 45 minutes with a walking time of around 1 hour. If you need any assistance or require any more information about the route please get in touch. \nThe walk will take place mostly on footpaths\, with a couple of short sections on loose chippings. \nPlease note the route is one way and participants will have to make their own way back from the gardens. \nPlease make sure you wear clothing to suit weather conditions\, and sturdy walking footwear. DESCRIPTION:Bring your cycle along for free checks and minor adjustments and repairs. \nOn the 30th of July\, Lang Toun Cycles will be at Ravenscraig Walled Gardens to run a Dr Bike session at the Greener Kirkcaldy Community Gardens Open Day. Learn more about the open day here. \nAt Dr Bike sessions\, experienced mechanics check everything on your cycle from wheels\, brakes\, gears and tyre pressure to lights\, racks\, pedals\, saddles and more. Any minor adjustments we can make\, we do there and then. This may include free replacement of minor wear and tear components where possible. \nFor more complicated repairs that we can’t fix on site\, we will let you know exactly what needs to be done and give you a rough idea of what it should cost at a bike shop. \nA “Dr Bike health report” will be supplied to customers afterwards. \nThere is no need to book a place\, just bring your cycle along anytime between 12:30pm and 3:30pm on the 30th of July 2022. \nIf you have any questions about this event\, you can email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk or call 01592 858 458. \nHow to get there\nThe gates to the garden are located at the Dysart end of Ravenscraig park; on the corner of Dysart Road and West Quality Street. Go through the green gates and follow the path around to your right past the car park. Keep to the right and you will see a big space with lots of allotments. DESCRIPTION:Come along and try out an e-bike. Join us on a short ride to see how much easier they make it to cycle up hills! \nWe will provide e-bikes for you to borrow for the ride. \nThe two rides will be targeted at different types of cyclist – please choose the ride that best meets your needs. \nRides will be 10:30-11:30am and 12-1:30pm. Please come along during the 15mins before the ride to choose your bike beforehand. \nThe 10:30am ride will be a leisurely ride\, mainly on traffic-free paths. We will head along the Prom before testing out the bikes on the hill up to Ravenscraig Park. This ride is suitable for less confident cyclists who don’t currently cycle much (although you must be able to cycle). \nThe 12pm ride will be a longer\, faster ride\, testing out some of Kirkcaldy’s legendary hills. The ride will be on a mixture of traffic-free paths and quiet roads. This ride is suitable for people who are already confident cyclists\, but who would like to try out e-bikes \nWe will be meeting at the Basin car park on the Prom (near Morrisons). \nParticipants should be able to cycle for 1hr (at a leisurely pace for the first ride\, or at a faster pace for the 12pm ride)\, and must be at least 16 years old. Please wear appropriate clothes for the weather. \nBooking\nThe event is free but booking is required. This ride is ideal for less confident cyclists who are looking to discover some quieter routes.
